Nikujaga is a Japanese simmered dish of meat, potatoes, and vegetables.
It has a salty-sweet taste with soy sauce, sugar, and mirin.

- Potato : 3 pieces
- Onion : 1 piece
- Carrot : 1 piece
- Beef or Pork : 200g
- Thread konjac : 100g
- Snow pea : moderate amount
- Vegetable oil : 1 teaspoon
- Water : 1 cup
- Soy sauce : 2 tablespoons
- Mirin(a type of sake with low alcohol and high sugar content) : 2 tablespoons
- Sake : 2 tablespoons
- Sugar : 2 tablespoons
RECIPE
- Cut the potatoes, onions, carrots, and Thread konjac into bite-sized pieces. Remove the streaks from the snow peas.
- Lightly boil the thread konjac in hot water.
- Put the vegetable oil in a pan, turn the heat to medium, and fry the potatoes, onions, and carrots.
- Add water and bring to a boil, then add beef.
- Add soy sauce, mirin, sake and sugar and mix.
