Karaage

Karaage is a Japanese dish of seasoned chicken coated with potato starch and fried in oil.

INGREDIENTS

< 2 SERVINGS >
  • Chicken thigh : 300g
  • Soy sauce : 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic : 1/2
  • Ginger : 2 teaspoons
  • Sake : 1 tablespoon
  • Pepper : Appropriate amount
  • Potato starch : 50g
  • Vegetable oil : Appropriate amount

RECIPE

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Mix chicken, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, sake, and pepper in a bowl.
  3. Sprinkle the chicken on the potato starch.
  4. Put oil in a pan and heat it to 338°F.
  5. Put the chicken in the pot and fry for about 4 minutes, then take it out.
  6. Once the chicken has cooled down a little, place it back in the pan with the temperature raised to 374°F and fry for 1-2 minutes.

SUPPLEMENT

If you don’t have potato starch, you can use wheat flour.
After mixing in a bowl, marinating for about 15 minutes will allow the flavors to permeate easily.
Please note that if the chicken is large, it will be difficult for the fire to pass through.
Squeeze a lemon over it when you eat it for a refreshing taste.
