Potato salad

Potato salad is a salad made from mashed boiled potatoes and mixed with vegetables and mayonnaise.
There is a theory that it originated in Russian cuisine and that the cooking method was changed in Japan.
In Japan, it is also famous as a standard salad to put in the obento(lunch box).

INGREDIENTS

  • Potatoes : 2
  • Carrot : 1/3
  • Cucumber : 1/3
  • Ham : 2 pieces
  • Mayonnaise : 4 tablespoons
  • Salt : Appropriate amount
  • Pepper : Appropriate amount

RECIPE

  1. Boil the potatoes in a pan with the skin on.
  2. Peel the carrot, cut it thinly and boil it.
  3. Cut the cucumber into thin slices. Sprinkle with salt and let it sit for a while, then wipe off the excess water.
  4. Cut the ham into thin strips.
  5. Peel the boiled potatoes and mash them in a bowl.
  6. Put carrot, cucumber, ham, mayonnaise, salt and pepper in a bowl and mix.

SUPPLEMENT

Try to keep the water from the carrot and cucumber out of the potato salad as much as possible.
Add a little vinegar and sugar when mashing the potatoes for a deeper flavor.
Boiled eggs may be added, and bacon may be substituted for ham.
